“What are you trying to say?” A journey to finding my niche…

I am often asked questions around my type of art or my niche and I never quite know how to answer. It usually results in me going off on some sort of tangent about documentaries that I watch and something from it that inspired me or on a long journey through my thought process which never seems to truly answer the question. I recently read an article that stated the most successful artists found their niche and devoted themselves to it. They had something to say and they said it, it’s as simple and complicated as that. However, what do you do when you have a lot of things to say? As a passionate and disorganized person I have many things to say about a wide range of topics. One day I can be on my soap box about animal cruelty which results in pieces like “More than Ivory,” when I was in my room sobbing watching a documentary about the Ivory trade. And the next day I’m discussing society, inequality and human rights issues, which usually results in some of my humanistic pieces such as “Solemn Request” and “Therapy.” Or there are days that I’m on the beach and I simply want to attempt to capture the beauty and wonder of Mother Nature even though it’s an impossible task.
I fall in love with moments, meaningful conversations and beautiful words and I like to portray that or at least attempt to show you where my head was at in that moment. Maybe that’s my niche or maybe I’m just a disorganized passionate person and have to create my own. With that, I'll leave you with today's inspiration...

Thanks for reading friends,
CJ
